Education and lived experience only
The Fittest Diabetic (the "Site"), including the Playbook, newsletter, social content, and any current or future app, provides general education, information, and the personal lived experience of a person with Type 1 diabetes who exercises. It is provided for informational and educational purposes only.
Not medical advice
Nothing on the Site is medical, clinical, nutritional, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It does not create a doctor–patient or any professional relationship.
Always seek the advice of your doctor, diabetes specialist, or other qualified health professional with any questions about your health, and especially before making any change to your insulin, medication, dosing, diet, or exercise. Never disregard or delay seeking professional medical advice because of something you have read or seen here.
Type 1 diabetes and exercise carry real risks
Exercising with Type 1 diabetes can affect your blood glucose in ways that carry serious risks, including hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose), hyperglycaemia, and other complications. Individual responses vary enormously. What works for one person may be unsafe for another. Only your own healthcare team knows your full situation.
No insulin or dosing guidance
We do not, and will not, provide personalised insulin, dosing, or medication guidance. Decisions about insulin and medication must be made with your healthcare team.
In an emergency
If you think you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately (in New Zealand, dial 111).
No guarantees
We make no guarantee of any particular outcome. Any results described are individual experiences and are not typical or promised.
